Oral surgery procedures are used to treat problems that can no longer be solved with simple dental treatment. Most often, surgical exposure of the affected area is also necessary, which is why they require special conditions in terms of the clinic, equipment, and expertise.

One of the most frequently performed oral surgery procedures is tooth extraction, which can be performed safely and without complications. But of course, the field of oral surgery is much broader than this. In addition to tooth removal, surgical removal of roots, bone grafting, and implantation also fall into this category. Oral surgery may also be necessary in cases of accidental injuries, and it can also be the solution for certain cystic, abscess, tumorous, or other inflammatory problems. Last but not least, the wisdom tooth must be highlighted, which can cause problems in almost any state: if it has erupted, it causes problems; if it remains impacted in the jawbone, it causes problems. Oral surgery helps us get through the aforementioned – and many other similar – problems more quickly and without risk or complications.

If a tooth cannot be saved, its removal is unavoidable, as it can lead to foci of infection and inflammation in our body. But in other cases, we may also opt for tooth extraction, whether for dental or aesthetic reasons.

Wisdom teeth cause discomfort for many people, sometimes for extended periods. If they cannot erupt or fully grow in, this often leads to inflammation and severe pain. If they erupt at an angle, they can cause crowding. Often, cleaning them is impossible, leading to further dental problems. Whatever the issue, it causes unpleasant symptoms, so it is usually advisable to have them removed.

A fractured tooth root can maintain a continuous inflammatory environment, which can cause great pain and also have an unpleasant effect on other parts of our body. In addition to generating swelling and pain, it can also initiate focal infection. Therefore, it is advisable to have it removed as soon as possible.

If root canal treatment is unsuccessful, we can still give our tooth one last chance by removing the root tip and the inflamed tissues around it. Thanks to the procedure, new and healthy bone tissue can develop, which can then be preserved for a long time.

There can be many reasons why an abscess forms around an inflamed tooth. This causes a lot of pain and other unpleasant symptoms, and if not treated in time, we must also expect the inflammation to spread further. Incision, or opening a dental abscess, prevents this and quickly alleviates the symptoms.

Gum recession causes a great deal of discomfort. Pain, swelling, and the negative impact on our smile can be remedied by gum plastic surgery. This versatile procedure also offers a solution for a gummy smile. Thus, gum plastic surgery not only eliminates pain-generating problems but also ensures an aesthetic smile.

As with any surgical procedure, a follow-up and possibly suture removal will be necessary. Until then, it’s best to avoid strenuous activities like sports or hiking, and if possible, delegate household chores to someone else! It’s also advisable to skip swimming, sunbathing, sauna, and hot baths for the next few days. If these are not followed, unfortunately, sutures may break open, bleeding may start, and in addition to throbbing pain, we will likely need to go to an emergency clinic. For a quick recovery, it’s better to take it easy and rest a lot!

After oral surgery, it is extremely important not to neglect oral hygiene, but to clean the affected areas carefully and only with a soft toothbrush. However, avoid rinsing for a few days, and do not suck or poke at the wound!

It is advisable to cool your face with an ice pack occasionally, but only for a maximum of 10 minutes at a time. This helps relieve pain and reduce any swelling that may occur as a result of the procedure. However, your face should not feel cold, and wet compresses are not recommended on the surgical area!

A szájsebészeti beavatkozást követően érdemes megvárni, hogy kimenjen az érzéstelenítő hatása, nehogy félre nyeljünk. A következő napokban pedig kerülni kell a tejtermékek, illetve a nyes húskészítmények fogyasztását. Éppúgy ajánlott a magvas, nagyon fűszeres és forró ételek száműzése az étrendünkből egy ideig. Ital szempontjából a szénsavas, illetve az alkoholos termékeket kell kerülni. Mivel a dohányzás rossz szájhigiéniát teremt, ezért jobb felfüggeszteni, vagy a lehető legnagyobb mértékben lecsökkenteni ezt a tevékenységet. Amennyiben ez nem sikerül, sajnos lassabb gyógyulással, illetve esetleges komplikációkkal is számolhatunk.

The greatest benefit of teeth whitening is, of course, the result itself: a more uniform, brighter, and more aesthetic tooth color that visibly rejuvenates the facial appearance and gives a more confident smile. Beautiful, white teeth are not only important from an aesthetic point of view but also significantly contribute to increased self-confidence and a positive first impression.

Another advantage of the procedure is that it offers a quick and effective solution. In-office teeth whitening can usually be completed in one session, lasting approximately 60–90 minutes, and the results are visible immediately after the treatment. Teeth can become several shades lighter, depending on the extent of discoloration and the method used.

Modern teeth whitening technologies – whether laser or professional in-office procedures – act gently on tooth enamel. With proper indication and dental supervision, the treatment is safe, does not damage the tooth structure, and has no permanent side effects. For most patients, it is a painless procedure, although temporary sensitivity may occur, which subsides within a short time.

Many factors can cause teeth to change color. Everyday eating and drinking habits play a key role in this. Coffee, tea, red wine, cola, and strongly coloring fruits – such as raspberries – can discolor the surface of tooth enamel over the long term. Smoking also significantly contributes to the yellowish-brown discoloration of teeth.

With age, tooth enamel gradually thins, allowing the yellowish shade of the dentin to show through more prominently.

In some cases, we speak of internal discoloration. Trauma and accidents can damage the internal structure of the tooth, leading to graying. Root-treated teeth can also show a change in shade. In these cases, a professional dental examination is particularly important, as not all discolorations can be treated with the same method.

The good news is that in most cases, teeth whitening offers an effective solution. By choosing the appropriate technology – whether laser or home teeth whitening performed under medical supervision – the dentition can regain a natural, radiant shade.

In 2018, alongside my first practice, I dreamed of a private clinic where I could perfectly apply the knowledge accumulated over the years – dedicating ample time to each patient. My greatest passion lies in root canal treatments, aesthetic fillings, and restorations, but I also enjoy working with the youngest patients. I organized the establishment of my clinic around the principle that “There’s no need to be afraid of us!”, which relies on three fundamental conditions: equipment, environment, and people.

Equipment: For our confident and high-level treatments, we have acquired brand-new, modern equipment, aiming for the highest quality in our procurement. From the very first moment, I decided that there would be no compromise on the materials we use, and we only work with products from first-rate manufacturers.

The environment: We had our clinic designed by an interior designer – who has also reimagined the interiors of hotels on Andrássy Avenue, among others – to ensure that the environment, from the waiting room to the treatment rooms, would distract from the “white coat syndrome” many people experience. We consciously avoided the typical white, blue, and green colors common in healthcare and infused the spaces with the cheerful design of the 60s and 70s.

The people: Modern equipment and a pleasant environment are worth nothing if the care is not provided by an excellent doctor. With this in mind, I invited colleagues to work with me with whom I have several years of shared experience, ensuring that the care provided is of the highest standard.

I graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Târgu Mureș in 2016, and then in 2020, I completed my specialist examination in Conservative Dentistry and Prosthodontics at Semmelweis University in Budapest.

As a specialist in conservative and prosthetic dentistry, I strive to provide each patient with a personalized treatment plan tailored to their individual needs. My goal is to build long-term partnerships with my patients and help them maintain their dental health or restore missing teeth as perfectly as possible.

I believe that high-quality dental treatment is the result of collaboration between the doctor and the patient. Therefore, it is important for me that patients feel comfortable during procedures, and I pay special attention to creating a friendly and calm atmosphere in my practice.

Practicing orthodontics at a high level is a family tradition; even as a child, I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps, who showed me the wonders achievable through orthodontics. After graduating from university, I was one of the few who could complete their specialist training directly under the President of the Hungarian Orthodontic Society, thus gaining access to the highest level of education.

Armed with this knowledge and several years of experience, I wholeheartedly believe that orthodontics is not just about straightening teeth! I believe in complex orthodontics, where not only the alignment of the teeth but also their functionality is equally important. Therefore, I use the most modern orthodontic techniques in my treatments, as this is the guarantee for achieving lasting and aesthetic results.

I graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Semmelweis University in 2018 with summa cum laude honors. I completed my residency at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry, where I obtained my specialist qualification in dentoalveolar surgery in 2021.

My specialty is gentle tooth extraction, implantation, and various bone grafting procedures. During my treatments, I create a calm atmosphere and strive for long-term solutions, which we implement together with patients in a personalized way.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time in nature, where I relax by hiking and cycling. Various sports have been an important part of my life since childhood.

As a child, biology fascinated me, so I quickly decided I wanted to be a doctor. In my free time, I did a lot of crafts, so the dental profession was a great opportunity to combine biology with my creativity.

I obtained my dental degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Debrecen in 2018, and since then, I have been working in private practices in Budapest.

I consider communication very important, so that patients who turn to me fully understand the possible solutions to their problem.

I know that for many, the dental chair and the clinic can be a very uncomfortable place. Therefore, taking into account any anxieties and past negative experiences, I create and maintain a safe space for my treatments. I believe that mutual trust and a relaxed atmosphere are essential for successful collaboration.

I am also interested in psychology and am currently training in the field with a psychotherapy association.
In my free time, I love being in nature, dancing, horseback riding, hiking, and painting as a hobby; I am also passionate about acting.

What is tartar and how does it form?

Tartar is not just an aesthetic problem, but a condition that threatens oral health. The tartar formation process begins with plaque: after meals, a thin biofilm of bacteria deposits on the tooth surface. Most of this can be removed with proper oral care, but it can remain in hard-to-reach areas—such as between teeth or along the gum line.

If this plaque is not regularly removed, it becomes saturated with minerals, hardens, and tartar forms. This hard deposit can no longer be removed with a toothbrush. It’s worth knowing that certain factors, such as smoking, irregular tooth alignment, inadequate oral hygiene, or genetic predisposition can accelerate tartar formation.

The surface of tartar is rough, making it easier for new bacteria and debris to adhere, which can trigger inflammatory processes over time.

What happens if we don’t remove tartar?

Untreated tartar not only diminishes the aesthetics of your smile, but can also be the starting point for serious dental problems. The bacteria-laden deposits irritate the gums, which can become inflamed, bleed easily, and then recede. Over time, this condition can lead to periodontal disease, which can also affect the bone structure supporting the teeth.

In advanced cases, teeth can become loose or even be lost. Regular tartar removal is therefore not just a matter of hygiene, but one of the fundamental conditions for long-term tooth retention.

Can we prevent tartar formation somehow?

As mentioned above, tartar formation occurs mainly in hard-to-reach areas, so with properly performed and regular oral care, the likelihood and rate of its formation can be reduced. In addition to proper brushing, it’s worth using dental floss and interdental brushes to clean between teeth. Certain mouthwashes can also be a great help in reducing tartar. However, if we already notice tartar deposits, we should seek professional help as soon as possible, as tartar can be a breeding ground for many dental problems! By removing tartar, we can avoid bigger issues and achieve a more aesthetically pleasing smile.

Ultrasonic Tartar Removal – How Does It Work?

Modern tartar removal is performed using an ultrasonic device. The instrument emits high-frequency vibrations that gently yet effectively remove the tartar layer from the tooth surface. The tiny air bubbles created during the vibration also help remove bacteria, so the treatment provides not only mechanical cleaning but also has a disinfecting effect.

The advantage of ultrasonic technology is that it doesn't damage tooth enamel and doesn't harm the gums. At the end of the treatment, the teeth are polished, resulting in a smooth, clean surface on which plaque will accumulate more slowly in the future.

The Tartar Removal Process

Many people are apprehensive about the procedure due to past experiences, but today’s tartar removal offers a completely different experience. During the treatment, the dentist or dental hygienist removes hard deposits with an ultrasonic device, then cleans hard-to-reach areas with manual instruments if necessary.

For perfect results, polishing follows the cleaning. This is important not only from an aesthetic perspective, but also helps make the tooth surface smoother, slowing down the formation of future deposits. The treatment always concludes with oral hygiene consultation so the patient can maintain the achieved results long-term.

Does Tartar Removal Hurt?

Tartar removal is completely painless for most patients. Mild discomfort or temporary sensitivity may occur, especially if the gums are inflamed or a large amount of tartar has accumulated. However, these sensations are short-lived and don’t involve lasting pain.

For more sensitive teeth, the treatment can be adjusted to a gentler setting, keeping the procedure comfortable. The goal of modern technology is to make tartar removal a fast, safe, and ideally completely painless experience.

After Tartar Removal

Following the treatment, it’s advisable to avoid consuming highly staining foods and beverages for a few hours. The gums may be slightly sensitive, especially if they were previously inflamed, but this subsides quickly.

The freshly cleaned tooth surface is smooth and clean, contributing to a more pleasant oral sensation and a more aesthetic smile. Regular, thorough home oral care helps maintain the results as long as possible.

How Often Should Tartar Removal Be Performed?

Generally, a check-up every six months is recommended, during which the dentist determines whether another tartar removal is needed. In some cases—such as increased tartar formation or gum problems—more frequent cleaning may be warranted. Regular treatment not only provides aesthetic benefits, but also contributes to the long-term health of teeth and gums.
