DENTAL AIRFLOW POLISHING

Dental air polishing is performed using a special device. With this, we spray a mixed substance onto the affected teeth at high pressure, which consists of water, air, and a very fine abrasive powder.

Increased consumption of highly staining foods and drinks – such as coffee, tea, tomatoes, beetroot, etc. – can lead to discolorations that cannot be remedied by other procedures alone. The same can be true for heavy smokers. Dental air polishing, however, is specifically designed to combat these pigment deposits, thereby guaranteeing a perfectly beautiful smile. Not only can your teeth become whiter, but they will also have a smooth surface, making it easier to clean future deposits after the treatment.

When do we use it?

This effective yet gentle dental cleaning treatment can also be considered as a standalone procedure if you only want to get rid of minor discolorations. With this technique, we can achieve naturally white and smooth teeth. Air polishing is essentially a type of teeth whitening procedure, as it removes surface stains. However, if the problem is more significant, LED teeth whitening can help, which also addresses further tooth discoloration. If other treatments are also needed to maintain the health and beauty of your teeth, then air polishing primarily serves to perfect the result.

What is Airflow (salt polishing) treatment?

Dental air polishing, also known as Airflow or salt polishing treatment, is a modern, gentle cleaning procedure that removes discolorations and plaque deposited on the tooth surface using a special mixture of water, air, and fine abrasive powder. The term "sandblasting" can be misleading, as it does not involve actual sand, but rather an extremely fine cleaning agent that does not harm tooth enamel.

Airflow technology is particularly effective in removing surface stains caused by coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, or highly staining foods. After the treatment, teeth not only appear brighter but also become smoother, which helps to slow down the accumulation of new deposits.

How does it differ from ultrasonic scaling?

Ultrasonic scaling primarily serves to remove hard calculus, while dental air polishing is effective in removing finer discolorations and deposits. The two procedures are often most effective when used to complement each other, rather than as alternatives.

That’s why we also offer a treatment package that combines ultrasonic scaling with dental air polishing. This ensures that the entire surface of the teeth is cleaned, hard-to-reach areas become cleaner, and the aesthetic result is more striking.

How painful is dental air polishing?

Dental air polishing is a gentle procedure that is completely painless for most patients. In cases of sensitive tooth necks, mild, temporary discomfort may occur, but this is short-lived and does not lead to lasting sensitivity.

The treatment does not damage tooth enamel and poses no risk to the gums, provided it is performed with appropriate indications and professional supervision.

How long does the treatment take?

For standalone dental air polishing, the treatment typically takes 30–45 minutes, depending on the extent of discoloration and the condition of the teeth.

If combined with ultrasonic scaling, the total treatment time is usually around 60 minutes. Each treatment concludes with oral hygiene advice to help the patient maintain the achieved results long-term.

Kicsit kellemetlen a helyzet , most akkor van önöknél Paradontológia vagy nincs !?
